The Florida Panthers added another veteran to their roster as they signed center John Madden to a one-year contract on Thursday. Madden has been a part of three Stanley Cup champions in his NHL career. He began with the New Jersey Devils and stayed there for over 10 years. He won the Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1999-2000 and 2002-03. Madden signed as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks and played under current Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon while there. He helped the Blackhawks end their 49-year drought and captured the Stanley Cup in 2009-10. Madden played for the Minnesota Wild last season.
