Marlins Lose Big Without Guillen

Miami manager Ozzie Guillen served the first game of a five-game suspension as the Marlins were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies 7-1 on Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park. The game was heavily anticipated with a pitching match up between Roy Halladay and Josh Johnson. The Marlins played small ball to score in the second inning. Omar Infante got a lead-off double to left field. He advanced to third on a sacrifice fly to right field by John Buck. Infante scored on a ground out to second base by Johnson. The Phillies took the lead with a five-run third inning. With one out, Juan Pierre singled to right field and then stole second base. A shot up the middle by Placido Polanco went off Johnson's glove and into left field to score Pierre. Jimmy Rollins followed with an RBI single to left-center field and Polanco scored from second. Rollins advanced to second on the throw. Hunter Pence hit a single to left field and knocked in Rollins. Later in the inning, Freddy Galvis drove a two-out, two-run double down the right field line with Pence and Shane Victorino scoring. Philadelphia added another run in the fourth inning. Victorino smacked a two-out single to left field as Rollins scored. Johnson left the game after 3 2/3 innings and gave up six runs on eleven hits. Carlos Ruiz nailed a solo home run on an 0-1 pitch off Ryan Webb with one out for a 7-1 lead. Halladay went seven innings after he gave up one run on five hits. The three-game series wraps up on Thursday. The Marlins return home on Friday to take on the Houston Astros, who make their final appearance at Miami as a the National League club.
