The New York Mets picked up a 5-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night at Citi Field. The Marlins have now lost four straight road games on the trip. They will finish the three-game series on Wednesday afternoon.
The only bright spot for Miami was a one-out solo home run to left field by Omar Infante on a 1-0 pitch in the fifth inning off R.A. Dickey. It was the fifth homer by Infante this season. Dickey would pitch seven innings and give up one run on three hits with seven strikeouts.
The Mets got two runs in the sixth inning to take the eventual lead. Daniel Murphy grounded into a fielders choice to make it two outs. David Wright then hit an 0-2 pitch to center field off Mark Buehrle, who went seven innings and surrendered two runs on five hits.
New York added three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off the Marlins bullpen core. With runners on first and second with two out, Lucas Duda smacked a single to right to score Ruben Tejada. Duda advanced to second on a error by Giancarlo Stanton. Mike Baxter would follow with a double down the left field line to score Wright and Duda.
