The Miami Heat hosted the Boston Celtics in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night at American Airlines Arena. They defeated the C's 93-79 as LeBron James led the way with 32 points and 13 rebounds. Dwyane Wade contributed 22 points and seven assists. Miami now has a four-game winning streak in the playoffs and improved to 6-1 on their home court.
The Heat put in the first four points of the game and were up 5-3 three minutes in. They maintained their lead on a 12-6 run and led 17-9 with 3:00 left in first quarter. Miami ended the first quarter with a 21-11 lead. LeBron James outscored Boston in the first quarter with 13 points while the Celtics only had 11.
Miami remained ahead 34-24 with 7:25 left in the first half. Boston pulled off a 19-11 spurt to be down 45-43 with under two minutes left. The Heat gave up 35 points in the second, the most points they've given up in a quarter this postseason. The game was tied at 46-46 at halftime as Kevin Garnett had 13 points while Paul Pierce added 10.
With the game tied at 50-50, Miami went on a 9-2 run that was capped by uncontested lay-ups by James and Dwyane Wade. They led 59-52 with 9:25 left in the third quarter. Boston was down 72-61 after three quarters as they were outscored 26-15. James had 27 points and eight rebounds after the third frame.
Miami got the first six points of the final quarter and had their largest lead of the game at 17 points with a 78-61 lead just two minutes in. The Heat had a 15-point lead when they pulled their starters with just under two minutes remaining. Garnett led the Celtics with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
