Red Sox Sweep Marlins

    The Miami Marlins were swept in the final game of a three-game series 6-5 against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Thursday night. Miami lost for the 13th time in their last 15 games.
The Marlins return home on Friday to take on the Toronto Blue Jays.
    Miami started out strong with a three runs in the first inning off Daisuke Matsuzaka. Jose Reyes led off with a single to center field then went to third on a ground out by Hanley Ramirez. Giancarlo Stanton walked and later stole second base for two men in scoring position. After Logan Morrison struck out, Greg Dobbs picked up a two-run single to right field as Reyes and Stanton scored. Dobbs eventually stole second and scored on an Omar Infante single to center field.
    Carlos Zambrano almost did not fair better in the first inning as the Boston was able to load the bases with one out. He got out of it when former Marlin Cody Ross popped out to first and Royal Palm Beach native Jason Saltalamacchia struck out swinging. 
    The Red Sox picked up two runs in the fourth inning to get back in the game. Zambrano hit both Ross and Saltalamacchia to begin the frame. Will Middlebrooks followed with an RBI-single into right field to score Ross. Two batters later, Mike Aviles lifted a sacrifice fly to center field and Saltalamacchia scored.
    Boston tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning. Adrian Gonzalez started with a walk and advanced to second with one out on a single by Cody Ross. With two outs, Middlebrooks knocked in Gonzalez on a single to right field.
    The Marlins regained the lead as Stanton smashed a one-out solo home run on a 1-2 count to left field in the sixth inning. It was Stanton's 15th homer of the season. Andrew Miller came in to relieve for Boston. Dobbs then singled to left field and Infante followed with a double to left center as he drove in Dobbs.
    The Red Sox came back with three runs in the eighth inning to lead 6-5. Saltalamacchia led off with a double to center field. Miami made a pitching change as Edward Mujica came in for Randy Choate. Middlebrooks then smacked a two-run homer to center field on a 2-2 pitch for his eighth round-tripper this season. Ryan Kalish singled to right and went to third on a ground out by Aviles. Daniel Nava drove in the winning run on a single to center field with one out.
