The University of Miami Hurricanes have kicked off safety Ray-Ray Armstrong from their football team on Wednesday. Armstrong, heading into his senior year, was dismissed for team violations. He had 34 tackles last season as a starter for the team.
Armstrong played for Seminole High School in Sanford as a quarterback and a defensive back. He led the team as a senior to the 2008 FHSAA Class 6A state championship over the two-time defending national champion and state champion Miami-Northwestern High School 28-21. To this day they are the only Orlando-area high school to win a high school state football title since the FHSAA moved the championships to Orlando and the Citrus Bowl in 2007.
