Lincoln Financial Media has just acquired WMSF-FM 104.3 from Palm Beach Broadcasting for around $13 million. They are expected to flip the station to a sports format and become a simulcast of 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM. Lincoln Financial Media will have a local marketing agreement until the deal is approved by the FCC. The Miami/Fort Lauderdale region will now join the increased trend of major cities in the United States that have a sports station on an FM frequency.
Palm Beach Broadcasting acquired the frequency from CBS Radio back in April. Dean Goodman, owner and CEO of Palm Beach Broadcasting, decided to move the transmitter signal from just south of Wellington in the West Palm Beach market to Miami Gardens in the Miami market. It was his intend when they bought the station to spin it off and find a buyer because his organization was over the limit with FM stations in the West Palm Beach market.
