Marlins Overcome Five Runs

    The Miami Marlins came back from five runs down and defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Chase Field. Both teams will play the first major league doubleheader ever in Arizona on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks have played in a stadium with a retractable roof since their inception in 1998.
    Arizona picked up all of their five runs off Ricky Nolasco in the first inning. Chris Young led off with a walk and scored on a double to left field by Aaron Hill for a 1-0 lead. Jason Kubel singled to center and Paul Goldschmidt walked to load the bases for the D-Backs. Justin Upton knocked in Hill and Kubel on a two-run single to left field.
    Miguel Montero singled into right center which brought in Goldschmidt from second. The Marlins finally got their first out of the game when Ryan Wheeler hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Upton scored to make it 5-0.
    Miami was able to chop the lead down during the second inning off Trevor Cahill. The Marlins had men on first and third with one out which brought up Donovan Solano. He singled into center field as Carlos Lee crossed the plate. Two batters later, Nolasco whacked a ground-rule double to left field and Greg Dobbs scored.
    The Marlins tied the game at 5-5 with three runs in the sixth inning. Giancarlo Stanton began with a double to deep left field and advanced to third on a ground out by Dobbs. Solano then drove Stanton in on a single to center field and took second on a wild pitch when Matt Albers entered the game. Rob Brantly would ground out and pinch-hitter Austin Kearns walked. Solano scored on an infield single to short by Gorkys Hernandez. Bryan Petersen would tie the game on a single to center field which scored Kearns.
    With two out in the top of the tenth inning, Stanton got an RBI-single to left field off Sam Demel and Hernandez scored for the Marlins only lead in the game. Steve Cishek stopped Arizona in the bottom of the frame for his tenth save of the season.
