Two football squads will meet on Friday night to determine playoff teams from District 14-5A. The Glades Central Raiders travel to Boynton Beach and face the Tigers. Jensen Beach, currently tied with Boynton Beach for second place, has the tiebreaker with a head-to-head victory over the Tigers earlier this season and visits Suncoast.
After dropping their first four games of the season in one of their worst starts in school history, Glades Central(4-4, 3-0) has bounced back with four straight wins and taken first place in the district. The Raiders have a balanced attack led by running back William Likely who has breakaway speed when he gets in the open field. Quarterback T.J. Abrams is a first-year starter with the team and he will throw downfield to a slew of receivers that include David Bailey, Raquon Carver and Jonathan Istache. They also have an additional weapon in Giovanni Lugo who can kick long field goals from far away.
Boynton Beach(4-3, 2-1) have adjusted this season with the graduation of Jessamen Drunker last year, who is now at the University of Florida. Jake Lutzen will quarterback for the Tigers and look for his favorite target wide receiver Donte Sylenceux on deep patterns. Should there be a three-way tie for first place in the district after Friday, Boynton Beach would host the tiebreaker on Monday because they would have the best overall record this season.
