The Miami Heat had their four-game winning streak snapped as they fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 104-86 on Sunday night at FedEx Forum. Miami dropped to 1-2 on the road this season. Dwyane Wade made his return after a one-game absence due to a cold.
Miami(5-2) trailed the game the entire time, but they tied it up at 12-12 and 14-14 midway through the first quarter. Memphis(5-1) began the contest with a 10-2 spurt until the Heat responded with their own 10-2 edge. The Grizzlies were ahead 22-21 after one quarter.
Memphis led 42-40 with 2:30 left in the second quarter. They then finished off on a 14-1 run to end the first half and led by 15 points 56-41 at halftime. The Heat were outscored 34-20 in the quarter.
The margin was cut to five points with 6:45 to go in the third quarter at 63-58. The Grizzlies still held the lead by double-digits 76-66 after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Miami pulled to within seven points at 82-75 with 8:33 remaining. However, Memphis powered on with a 22-2 run in the later part of the period to put the game away.
Chris Bosh put up 23 points and eight rebounds in 33 minutes while LeBron James had a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds in 36 minutes. Wade was Miami's third-leading scorer with eight points and eight rebounds in 33 minutes.
Rudy Gay poured in 21 points in his 37 minutes for Memphis and Wayne Ellington came off the bench as he scored 25 points. Both Zach Randolph and Mike Conley Jr. contributed 18 points each in the winning cause.
