The Miami Heat took on a Western Conference nemesis on Thursday night and wiped out the Dallas Mavericks 110-95 at American Airlines Center. It was a matchup between the last two NBA champions. Both teams had a prior history with each other as they met in the NBA Finals in 2006 and 2011. Miami has now won 11 of their last 14 games.
LeBron James led Miami with 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes. It was the 23rd consecutive game that he has scored more than 20 points in a game since the start of the season. Dwyane Wade added 19 points in 26 minutes while Chris Bosh had 17 points in 34 minutes.
The Mavericks had former Heat player Shawn Marion lead the way with ten points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes. Reserves Jae Crowder had 15 points and Bernard James poured in 12 points.
Miami(17-6) got on a 27-13 run in the first nine minutes to start the game and led 31-20 after one quarter. James had 13 points after the first quarter for the Heat. Dallas(12-14) went on an 8-2 spurt at the beginning of the second quarter and pulled to within five points 33-28. The Heat ripped out a 19-9 edge midway through the period and led 52-37 with 2:59 to go in the half. The Mavs were down 58-42 at halftime.
The Heat opened the third quarter on a 26-9 run and had a 30-point margin to lead 84-51 with 3:31 remaining. Wade had 13 points in the stanza as his team was up 91-61 after three quarters. Miami put in their reserves at the beginning of the fourth quarter and Mavs capitalized with a 10-2 spurt.
