The Miami Heat took care of business with a 110-88 victory over the Detroit Pistons at American Airlines Arena on Friday night. The Heat have now won four straight games and improved to 18-3 at home this season. They are also 13-0 at home when leading at halftime.
Dwyane Wade had 29 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes for Miami while LeBron James compiled 23 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in 33 minutes. Chris Bosh contributed 14 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes. Heat reserve Ray Allen added 11 points in 23 minutes.
Greg Monroe nailed a double-double for Detroit with 31 points and 12 rebounds in 34 minutes. Former Pine Crest grad Brandon Knight knocked done nine points in with five assists in 28 minutes while Will Bynum came off the bench with 13 points in 22 minutes of play.
Miami(28-12) scored the first six points of the game, but the Pistons pulled even four minutes into the contest. Neither team led by more than two points for the remainder of the period as the Pistons were up 31-30 after one quarter. Detroit(16-27) got six consecutive points to begin the second quarter, however the Heat went on an 18-6 at the end of the first half and led 60-51 at halftime.
The Heat had a double-digit lead throughout the third quarter and were ahead 84-68 as they went into the final quarter. The Pistons closed the gap to a 14-point deficit at 93-79 with 6:20 left then fell further behind.
