Longtime Miami television news anchor Rick Sanchez began his tenure as the new afternoon talk host at News Radio 610 WIOD-AM on Monday. Sanchez was a radio game analyst for Florida International University Panthers football during the 2011 season. He was heavily critiqued by the local media for his one year in that position based on his lack of football knowledge.
Sanchez gained recognition locally as a weekday news anchor at WSVN-TV Channel 7 for over a decade. He showed up on the national stage at MSNBC to become a news anchor. Sanchez returned to Miami and worked at WTVJ-TV Channel 6 first as an afternoon talk show host then as a news anchor. He joined CNN as a weekend daytime news anchor and later was promoted to mid-afternoon weekday host at that network.
WIOD is really thinking outside the box--Sanchez will be better than Minaya--but who wouldn't be?
ReplyDeletei still miss Schnit in the afternoon. He is on late in the evening, but too late for me. I miss you Schnitt
ReplyDeleteSanchez is a joke. He has to go.
ReplyDeleteSanchez, what a joke. No more WIOD from 3 till 6.
ReplyDeleteSanchez, the arrogant blabbermouth. The narcissistic name dropping phony intellectual. Now holding his idiotic "conversations" on WIOD. Won't last more than a year or until his contract expires.
