The Miami Heat extended their winning streak to 27 games as they beat the Orlando Magic 108-94 at Amway Center on Monday night. The Heat improved to 12-1 in the second portion of back-to-back games as they began a four-game road trip.
Neither team led by more than five points in the first quarter as they were tied at 28-28 after one period. Miami(56-14) pulled out an 18-4 spurt at the end of the second quarter and led 55-46 at halftime.
Orlando(18-53) got a 10-2 rally midway through the third quarter to tie the game 68-68 with 2:59 to go. The Heat scored the next ten points to go ahead 78-68 after three quarters. Miami continued their dominance with on a 20-2 run and were up 88-70 with 9:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Dwyane Wade missed his second straight game while LeBron James fell short of a triple-double with 24 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in 39 minutes. Mario Chalmers added 17 points with five assists in 33 minutes and Chris Bosh contributed 12 points with nine rebounds in 27 points. Ray Allen dropped down 12 points and Udonis Haslem scored six points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Jameer Nelson led the Magic with a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds, both team highs, in 41 minutes. Tobias Harris added 20 points in 41 minutes and E'Twaun Moore had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in 39 minutes.
