Longtime Miami radio on-air personality John Kross Jr., a.k.a. Footy, has joined Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM as a Sunday late morning host. He was recently the Saturday late morning host at 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM.
Kross is best remembered for his long reign at Y100 WHYI-FM from 1974 until he retired in May 2006. He began there as a sports anchor and was promoted to morning co-host in 1987. He co-hosted with Bobby Czarnecki on the Bobby & Footy Show from 1987 until 1998. Kross was joined by several women which included disc jockey Jade Alexander in 1998 for Footy & The Chix At Six Show and that lasted until 2001. Footy was partnered with Y100 afternoon disc jockey Kenny Walker for the Kenny & Footy Show from June 2001 until the end of January 2006.
He came back out of retirement in early 2007 and became the Saturday morning host at News Radio 610 WIOD-AM. He added duties for a short time as he hosted late mornings when he replaced Glenn Beck.
