LeBron James returned to the lineup after he missed the last three games and scored 27 points to lead the Miami Heat over the Philadelphia 76ers 106-87 on Saturday night at American Airlines Arena. The Heat improved to 33-4 at home this season as they reached the 60-win plateau for the second time in franchise history.
Miami(60-16) put in the first five points of the game and finished the first quarter on a 23-5 run and led 33-18. Philadelphia(31-45) went on a 22-7 tear at the beginning of the second quarter to tie it at 40-40 with 3:48 left in the period. Miami still was up 50-46 at halftime.
The Heat never led by more than six points in the third quarter over the 76ers as they were ahead 77-76 at the end of the period. Miami extended their margin in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Sixers 29-11 in the final period.
Numerous players scored in double digits for the Heat. Mario Chalmers had 11 points and Udonis Haslem got 10 points for the Miami starters. Off the bench, Shane Battier nailed 14 points, Norris Cole popped in 13 points and Ray Allen added 11 points.
Jrue Holiday led the Sixers with 18 points and six assists in 39 minutes. Spencer Hawes contributed a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes. Evan Turner dropped down 14 points in 32 minutes while former Heat player Dorell Wright had 10 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes.
