It was an unusual game in which the first pitch on the first at-bat would be the only thing that mattered as the Miami Marlins were blanked by the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 on Saturday at Marlins Park. The Fish have lost 10 of their last 11 games and dropped to 3-13 in the month of March.
Arizona(25-18) got their only run in the first inning as Gerardo Parra took the first pitch that Miami(11-32) starting pitcher Tom Koehler threw and smacked a lead-off solo home run to right field. It was his fourth homer of the season.
Koehler fell to 0-2 as he went six innings, allowed one run on three hits and struck out seven. Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy hurled a complete game three-hitter as he struck out five and improved to 1-3.
