Dan Sileo has been named the new midday host at 640 Sports WMEN-AM and will begin on August 6. He was given an on-air tryout for the past four weeks at the station as he filled in for every day shift when it was necessary. He will work from 10 A.M until 1 P.M. while midday host Andy Slater will loss one hour from his show and go from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M.
Sileo had prior experience in the Miami market at Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM. He joined them in April 2012 when he replaced Sid Rosenberg as the afternoon host at that station. He moved to the midday shift in early September 2012 when Jorge Sedano took over afternoon drive. Sileo also added post-game studio football analyst duties with the Miami Hurricanes Radio Network for the 2012 season. He lost that position in early January 2013 and was suspended for two days later that month because of twitter remarks about Erin Andrews of Fox Sports. He was eventually fired by WQAM in early March.
He played for the University of Miami Hurricanes football team during the mid-1980's as a defensive lineman. Sileo had a stint as an early morning host on Fox Sports Radio until late September 2002. He would host a late morning shift on WFXJ-AM in Jacksonville and later picked up a sports commentator position at WJRR-FM in Orlando. Sileo hosted a morning show on several Clear Channel Orlando stations that included WQTM-AM, WFLF-AM and WYGM-AM from early October 2002 until October 2010.
While in Orlando, his show was syndicated on 620 The Sports Animal WDAE-AM in Tampa Bay. He was the morning host at WDAE until early March 2012 when he was let go for making racial comments about several pro football players.
