640 Sports WMEN-AM has eliminated local weekend hosts recently due to budget constraints with the addition of midday host Dan Sileo in early August. They include Dave Hyde, Toast, J. Darin Darst and Jeff Allen. The station will use the NBC Sports Radio Network on Saturday afternoons with former 1400 The Fan WFLL-AM and Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM sports host Anita Marks from noon until 3 p.m. followed by Brian Webber from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Hyde and Toast began to co-host a weekend show back in January. Hyde has worked as a sports columnist for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and its predecessor the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel since 1990. He was employed at the Miami Herald prior to that. Hyde has made numerous appearances for guest segments for most local sports stations. In addition, his book Still Perfect: The Untold Story Of The 1972 Miami Dolphins was published in 2012.
Toast was a weekend co-host with current 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM afternoon co-host Jon Weiner, a.k.a. Stugotz, at 940 Fox Sports Radio WRFX-AM in 2003 and early 2004. He was also a morning show producer on the Kenny and Footy Show for Y-100 WHYI-FM during the early 2000's. Toast left there and became an early morning co-host with the late Steve Brancik in 2005 at WAXY.
He reunited with Kenny Walker at WQAM in 2006 and 2007 where he worked as a morning show producer and morning sports anchor on the Kenny and Bo(Kim Bokamper) Show. Toast moved on to Big 105.9 WBGG-FM as a midday disc jockey and a morning producer for the Paul and Young Ron Show. He was a fill-in host at 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM for several months in early 2010.
Darst and Allen began to host a weekend show on 640 Sports earlier this year. Darst worked eight years with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and three years as the assistant sports information director at Florida International University. He joined CBSSports.com in March 2000 and is currently a college football producer with them.
Allen has worked as a disc jockey for numerous radio stations in the West Palm Beach area over the last 15 years. They included WEAT-FM, WIRK-FM, WUUB-FM, WDJA-AM and WJNO-AM.
