Two teams that were once classified in the small-schools bracket in Palm Beach County will meet on Thursday night at The Corral as the Glades Central Raiders visit the American Heritage-Delray Stallions. The Raiders were blanked 14-0 last year at home and escaped with a 41-34 overtime win against the Stallions two year ago in Delray Beach.
Glades Central, who began 2012 with an 0-4 record, played their first two regular season games at home and were blasted in their opening game 35-0 by the Dwyer Panthers. They bounced back last week as they got by the Palm Beach Central Broncos 13-7.
The Raiders have a balanced running attack with Jerry Jones and Keith Clemones. Giovanni Lugo will control the team on offense as quarterback. He will have a handful of wide receivers to throw the ball to which includes Ronquavion Tarver, Isiah Johnson and Jonathan Istache.
American Heritage proved last year that they were the best team in Palm Beach County with an undefeated regular season. They began the 2013 season with a 31-12 victory over their crosstown rival the Atlantic Eagles and then lost last week to the American Heritage-Plantation Patriots 28-6.
The Stallions, who have lost only three games since 2011, will play their first game at home this season. Quarterback Trenard Davis will lead American Heritage on offense with Devin Singletary and Warren Robinson carrying the ball from the backfield. Wide receivers Desmond Cain and Shacorey Foster plan to get open for receptions.
