The Miami Marlins started their final homestand of the season as they blanked the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 at Marlins Park on Monday night. The Marlins upped their record at home to 32-44.
Miami(58-99) got on the scoreboard in the first inning. Donovan Solano walked, Ed Lucas struck out and Christian Yelich walked. Philadelphia(72-84) starting pitcher Roy Halladay would leave the game due to right arm fatigue as Luis Garcia replaced him. Giancarlo Stanton loaded the bases for the Fish as he walked. Justin Ruggiano followed with a walk to score Solano for a 1-0 lead.
The Marlins would add another three runs during the eighth inning. Placido Polanco led off with a double to deep right field. After Adeiny Hechavarria flew out, Jeff Mathis and Greg Dobbs walked to fill the bases full of Marlins. Solano knocked in Polanco with a base hit into center field. Lucas would follow with a single to right field which brought in Mathis. Philadelphia made a pitching change as Carlos Jimenez came in to relieve for B.J. Rosenberg. Christian Yelich hit a sacrifice fly to center field which resulted in Dobbs crossing the plate.
