Abby Wambach married longtime partner and teammate Sarah Huffman on October 5 in Hawaii. The two players were part of the Majicjack franchise in South Florida during the 2011 season of Women's Professional Soccer(WPS). They played for the Western New York Flash of the National Women's Soccer League in 2013. Both were with the Washington Freedom from 2009 to 2010 until the team was sold and moved to Boca Raton.
Wambach has been on the national team since 2003 and she is the United States all-time leader for women in career goals with 161. She was a forward with the Majicjack in 2011 and scored nine goals in 11 appearances. Wambach was named player-coach that July after she played in the Women's World Cup.
Huffman was a midfielder for the team that year and had one goal in 18 games. Her best game was in a first-round playoff game at FAU in a 3-1 win over the Boston Breakers where she had one assist and set up a penalty kick goal when she was tripped up in the penalty area. Wambach was able to convert on the penalty kick for the go-ahead goal and a 2-1 lead.
