The Dwyer Panthers visit the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats in a District 13-7A matchup on Thursday night. Both schools had high expectations prior to the season to make the FHSAA playoffs this year.
Dwyer(5-0, 2-0) remains undefeated as they have outscored their opponents 208-20 halfway through the regular season. They came away with a 41-7 victory at the Olympic Heights Lions last week as the Panthers had a 34-0 lead at halftime.
Quarterback Daniel Parr, who threw five touchdown passes against OH, leads Palm Beach County with 1,034 passing yards and 17 touchdown passes this season. He will hand the ball off to running back Alonso Smith who is second in Palm Beach County rushing with 530 yards rushing. Smith had two touchdowns catches of 20 and 33 yards in the previous game versus the Lions. The Panthers receiving core of Johnnie Dixon, Clint Stephens and Ezra Saffold have a combined 802 receiving yards and 13 touchdown receptions this year.
Royal Palm Beach(3-1, 1-1) had a situation similar to Dwyer last week as they handled the Lake Worth Trojans 41-7. They also had a 34-0 halftime lead and got their first district win. Prior to this game, the Wildcats had scored 34 points on offense in their first three games of the season. Royal Palm Beach were upset in their first district game two weeks ago as they fell in Boca Raton to the West Boca Raton Bulls 20-6.
The Wildcats will mainly run the ball on offense and they will rarely throw the ball in the air. Demarcus Holloway will lead the running attack as he is fifth in Palm Beach County large schools with 52 carries for 376 yards. He had a 52-yard touchdown run against Lake Worth last week. Quarterback Toddy Centeio will also run option plays to confuse the defense. He is second on the team with 20 carries for 178 and scored on touchdown runs of 28 and 43 yards against the Trojans in the previous game. Royal Palm Beach have additional threats in the backfield which include Shamar Jackson and Charles Perry. Jimmy Moreland will be the only deep receiving threat for the Wildcats.
