Both schools have been the main contenders in this district over the last several years. They have faced each other in the regional semifinals in the previous two years with the winner losing the FHSAA Class 8A championship game in Orlando.
Cypress Bay(4-3, 3-1) had won three consecutive district games until they were crushed 33-0 at St. Thomas Aquinas last week. After losing their opening district game to Flanagan, they have compiled victories over Everglades, Cooper City and Western.
Miramar(8-0, 4-0) have been seen as one of the top teams in Broward County since the beginning of the regular season. The Patriots picked up non-district wins over South Plantation, Northeast, Plantation and St. Thomas Aquinas. They later got district wins against Western, McArthur, Everglades and Flanagan.
Nick Jeanty will control the Patriots offense as quarterback and give the ball off to running back Eric Pittman many times. Cameron Rigby will also contribute some runs from the backfield. Miramar have several wide receiver options which include Kwasim West, Tyler Williams, Keygon Dunnings and Kahlil Lewis.
