LeBron James returned to the lineup after missing one game as the Miami Heat got by the Denver Nuggets 97-94 at Pepsi Center on Monday night. The Heat finished a four-game road trip and have won 21 of their last 22 games against Western Conference opponents.
Miami(24-7) began the first quarter as they put in the first eight points on their way to a 12-4 edge. Denver(14-16) was able to get a 26-17 spurt to barely get ahead 30-29 after one quarter. The Heat saw the momentum change during the second quarter as the Nuggets equaled their largest lead of the game of nine points 55-46 at halftime.
The Heat scored the first 13 points of the second half to take the lead. Their were numerous lead changes during the third quarter as Denver was up 77-72 after three quarters. Michael Beasley hit a three-point shot from the top of the arc with 30 seconds left to give Miami a 96-92 lead.
James crunched in a double-double as he had 26 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Dwyane Wade left the game after he played just 18 minutes and dropped in 12 points. Chris Bosh added 17 points and Mario Chalmers compiled 10 points with nine assists. Ray Allen hit nine of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Ty Lawson led the Nuggets with a team-high 26 points and seven assists in 40 minutes. J.J. Hickson put together a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Darrell Arthur came off the bench to deliver 13 points.
