For the fourth straight month, 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM was the top sports format radio station in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region. They extended their margin over Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM and 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM for the fourth consecutive ratings period.
The ratings remained flat for 104.3 The Ticket as they stayed at a 1.2 in December without a program director. Regardless of the departure of morning co-host Marc Hochman midway through the period, their station maintained their audience. The Dan Le Batard Show shift to a national platform on ESPN Radio and the good start by the Miami Heat has helped matters.
WQAM slightly dropped from a 0.8 to a 0.7 in December. This was due to the release of midday host John Renshaw midway through the ratings period after seven months in that position. The announcement that on-air personnel would be shifted and changed again in early 2014 after their new lineup was set up back in early September has confused their audience. The end of the Miami Hurricanes football regular season was another reason.
There was no change at 940 The Sports Animal as they stayed the same at a 0.4 for the month of December. The station did not fall back with the elimination of their mid-afternoon show with Phil Domanic and Troy Stradford in November as they piped in Fox Sports Radio in December. The station will add former 640 Sports WMEN-AM midday host Andy Slater in early January for that time slot.
