The last spring high school football game occurred in Palm Beach County on Friday night as the Boynton Beach Tigers routed the Village Academy Tigers 50-8. Boynton Beach made the FHSAA playoffs last year and were eliminated by the Miami Central Rockets in the regional quarterfinal.
In the first quarter, Boynton Beach scored on their first possession at 9:03 when backup quarterback Dieuly Aristilde scored on a touchdown run from eight yards away for a 6-0 lead. It was set up on a 45-yard run by running back Chauncey Mason to the Village Academy 20-yard line. Mason played for Park Vista in 2013 and transferred to Boynton Beach.
Two possession later, quarterback Lamar Jackson entered the game and he did not disappoint as he ran down the right sideline for a 50-yard touchdown at 2:40. Marcos Rodriquez kicked the extra point to make it 13-0.
Village Academy responded with their only score of the game at 2:23 when Da'Vante Frazier returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards as he ripped by several defenders. Quarterback Torrell Jones ran around the right end for the two-point conversion and they trailed 13-8.
Boynton Beach would score 23 points in the second quarter to put the game out of reach. Aristilde caught a 51-yard pass on a fly pattern from Jackson to the Village Academy five-yard line. Mason scored on the next play as he rumbled up the middle with 8:58 to go in the second to extend their lead to 20-8.
On their next possession, Jackson sprinted toward the near sideline, avoided a tackle at the one-yard line and walked into the end zone to finish off a 17-yard touchdown run to give Boynton Beach a 27-8 lead with 5:23 left in the first half.
On the ensuing kickoff, Frazier bobbled the ball when he tried to catch it at his own eight-yard line. He then tried to go around the Boynton Beach kick coverage as he backed into his own zone, however Stephenson Camille tackled him and was credited with a safety for a 29-8 margin at 5:12.
Wide receiver Donte Sylencieux added to the rout as he caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jackson in the left side of the end zone to make it 36-8 with 3:33 left.
Boynton Beach scored another 14 points in the third quarter and mounted 37 unanswered points against Village Academy. Both teams decided it was unnecessary to play the fourth quarter and ended the game.
