Former St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders quarterback and current University of Iowa quarterback Jake Rudock will appear on the Big Ten Conference front cover of Phil Steele's College Football Preview this year. There is one catch to this item. He will not have his name on the magazine cover because he is being tackled by University of Michigan linebacker Jake Ryan.
Rudock played for St. Thomas Aquinas from 2007 to 2010. He was with the freshman squad in his first year and backed up Ryan Becker on the varsity team in his sophomore year. He became the starting quarterback in 2009 and helped the team to a 14-1 record. He led the school to a 15-0 undefeated season, a FHSAA Class 5A state title and a national championship as a senior.
He left the Raiders as the all-time leader with 5,082 passing yards, 73 touchdown passes, 301 completions and 467 passing attempts. Rudock also had single season school records with 2,827 passing yards, 36 touchdown passes, 157 completions and 242 passing attempts. He was redshirted at Iowa in 2011, saw no action in 2012 and started 13 games as quarterback for the Hawkeyes in 2013.
