The Florida Panthers gathered their first win of the 2014-15 season with a 1-0 shutout victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night at First Niagara Center. The Cats have scored a combined three goals in their last three games.
Florida(1-2-1) outshot Buffalo(1-4-0) 13-2 in the first 16 minutes of the game and 16-3 overall in the first period. They continued to pepper the Sabres net at the beginning of the second period. It paid off as Sean Bergenheim scored his first goal of the season at 3:01 with assists from Brad Boyes and Dmitry Kulikov.
Roberto Lunogo made 26 saves to get his 67th career shutout in the NHL. He past Patrick Roy for 13th all-time in career shutouts. Head coach Gerard Gallant picked up his first win at the helm for the Panthers.
