The American Heritage Stallions will be going for their fourth state title in the last eight years on Saturday as they face the defending champion Trinity Christian for the FHSAA Class 3A championship at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
American Heritage(11-1) last won a state championship in 2011. They lost the first game of the season at home against Miramar 14-7and are currently on an 11-game winning streak. The Stallions had impressive victories during the season against defending Class 5A champion American Heritage-Plantation, East Lee County and Heritage.
They have scored at least 38 points in a game nine times this season and have outscored their opponents 503-178 in 2014. American Heritage pounded Chaminade-Madonna 58-21 at home in the regional semifinal, beat Westminster Christian 23-7 in the regional final and stomped Clearwater Central Catholic 63-13 in the state semifinal.
The Stallions have a balanced attack on offense. Running back Devin Singletary will get the bulk of the carries from the backfield. D.J. Davis and Alex Sinkfeld are expected to get additional rushing attempts. Quarterback Warren Robinson is a duel threat who can run out of the pocket and pass the ball. Wide receivers Trenard Davis, Desmond Cain, and Christian Bingo are the main targets for Robinson to connect with.
