104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM has decided to move evening co-hosts Josh Friedman and Chris Wittyngham to the midday shift on an interim basis as of Wednesday. The station had Colin Cowherd of ESPN Radio in that time period until July 24.
Friedman and Wittyngham just celebrated the one-year anniversary of their show today. They may return to evenings after the month of August should ESPN Radio promote Jorge Sedano, Dan Le Bartard or Ryen Russillo to the midday spot on their national network.
Wittyngham, a University of Miami grad, was a weekend host on 104.3 The Ticket until he was given the evening co-host spot in July 2014 and replaced The Beast who moved to the early afternoon shift as a sports anchor and sidekick.
Friedman, an Indiana University grad, began his broadcasting career in Chicago and had a long tenure at a sports station in that city behind the scenes as a reporter, producer and board operator. He moved in South Florida in 1998 and worked for Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM as the Florida Marlins reporter. His contract was not renewed by the station in the middle of 2003 when the Marlins eventually won the World Series.
He was a Metro Networks sports reporter for the next two years until he joined 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM as their reporter of the Florida Marlins, Miami Heat and Miami Dolphins. Friedman later hosted a weekend show through March 2014 then he was given the evening post when the station no longer carried the Miami Marlins broadcasts.
