It will be a rematch between two schools in West Palm Beach on Friday night as the Oxbridge Academy Thunderwolves host the American Heritage Stallions in a Class 3A regional final at William H. Pitt Stadium. The Thunderwolves defeated the Stallions 24-7 earlier this season at The Corral in Delray Beach.
Following two seasons playing as an independent, Oxbridge Academy(9-2) entered the FHSAA this year and captured the District 7-3A championship. They won their first state playoff game with a 32-24 victory over Chaminade-Madonna in a regional semifinal last week.
The focal point of their offense is running back Travis Homer, a University of Miami commit, who can break through for a touchdown at anytime. James Meeks and Antavious Lane are other options to hand the ball off to. The Thunderwolves have Angelo Navaroli at quarterback and he will look for wide receivers Trey Green, Traionn Jones, Cade Socha, Jonathan King along with tight end A.J. Garson down the field.
American Heritage(8-2) lost the FHSAA Class 3A state title game last year to Trinity Christian and finished as a district runner-up this year. They topped Westminster Christian 27-19 on the road last week in a regional semifinal.
The Stallions are a team this season that will emphasize the run. Running back Devin Singletary is expected get most of the carries from the backfield. Cornelius Smith, a transfer from Dwyer, D.J. Davis and Alec Sinkfield will see some rushing opportunities. Quarterback Cameron Smith guides the team on offense and can throw short passes to wide receivers Keenan Duggan, Matt Pica and Micah Leon.
