Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM was the highest rated sports format radio station in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region for the fourth consecutive month. The ratings period showed some surprises that were not expected.
WQAM has not been on top of the competition alone in the ratings for this long in over five years. The four-hour blocks of shows with Joe Rose, Orlando Alzugaray, Marc Hochman, Zach Krantz, Channing Crowder and Alex Donno has worked. They did drop slightly from a 1.2 to a 1.1 in the month of December. The organization fell even with the great start of the season by the University of Miami Hurricanes basketball team.
790 The Ticket WAXY-AM went down from a 0.9 to a 0.8 this month. The loss of Israel Gutierrez leaving the afternoon show after two months had an impact as they tried to find a permanent partner alongside Ethan J. Skolnick. The Miami Heat continued their winning ways in a weak Eastern Conference.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM saw an improvement as they went up from a 0.4 to a 0.5 during the month of December. The station has not picked up ratings like this in over two years when they accomplished the feat back in October 2013. Their numbers did improve with different shows hosted by Jeff DeForrest, Andy Slater and Greg Likens in spite of the mediocre season by the Miami Dolphins.
