Mike Piazza and Ken Griffey Jr. have been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Griffey Jr. picked up the largest percentage of votes in an election ever from the Baseball Writers Association of America which surpassed Tom Seaver. Piazza had a connection for a brief time in South Florida.
Piazza becomes the second player to wear a Florida Marlins jersey to be elected into the Cooperstown shrine. He was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to Florida, played for only one week in five games with the Marlins and then dealt to the New York Mets. Andre Dawson was the other player to play for the Marlins.
