Jarimir Jagr passed Brett Hull for 3rd place all-time in NHL history as he scored his 741st and 742nd goals and led the Florida Panthers to a 3-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at BB&T Center on Saturday night. It was the fifth game of a six-game homestand for the team. Jussi Jokinen also played in his 800th NHL game.
In the first period, Winnipeg(25-29-4) would convert on their second power-play attempt at 14:35. Dustin Byfuglien flipped a high wrist shot from the right point which grazed off the uniform of Nicolaj Ehlers and by Roberto Luongo.
Florida(34-18-7) found a way to tie the contest at 4:53 of the second period as Jagr compiled his 19th goal of the season. Dmitry Kulikov snapped a shot from the top right circle which was redirected by Jagr in the low slot over the right shoulder of Michael Hutchinson.
The Panthers took their first lead of the game at 3:58 of the third period on the power play. Kulikov passed the puck from the top of the zone to Reilly Smith in the right circle and he blasted in a slapshot for his 19th goal of the campaign.
Jagr would pass Brett Hull for 3rd all-time in NHL history with 6:23 left in the third. He turned around in the crease area and scored from close range after a feed by Jokinen.
