The Florida Panthers jumped over the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division with a 5-2 victory on Saturday night. The Panthers finished a three-game road trip winning their last two games.
Tyler Johnson gave Tampa Bay the early lead at 5:52 of the first period on a power-play goal. The Panthers bounced back with two goals to take the lead 2-1 as both Vincent Trocheck and Jaromir Jagr scored their 25th goals of the season.
In the second period, Jiri Hudler put in the only goal of the frame. He scored his 15th goal this year with 4:07 left to give the Panthers a two-goal advantage.
Jonathan Huberdeau extended the Florida margin to 4-1 at 4:02 of the third period. Steven Stamkos followed with his 36th tally of the season for the Lightning while on the power play at 16:48. Jussi Jokinen finished the contest with a shorthanded empty-net goal with 25 seconds remaining.
