Ethan J. Skolnick has left his Miami Heat beat reporter position with the Miami Herald. He began his second stint with that newspaper in early October 2015. Skolnick was recently named as the new NBA writer for CBS Sports. He had been part of video presentations with the company on its website for several months.
He will continue as the afternoon co-host at 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM. Skolnick has held that spot with the radio station since September 2015 when he co-hosted an afternoon program with Israel Gutierrez.
Skolnick, a Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University grad, has been in the South Florida market for 20 years. He began as a sportswriter at the Palm Beach Post from 1996 to 2001 and then joined the Miami Herald for his first stint. He moved to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in the mid 2000s and was employed there as a sports columnist until July 2010.
He ventured into writing about the NBA on a full-time basis when he was hired by the Palm Beach Post as the Miami Heat beat reporter. His tenure at that newspaper lasted until September 2013. Skolnick landed at Bleacher Report as an NBA writer and also became a contributor for Turner Sports along with NBA TV for two years.
