The Dwyer Panthers opened up the 2016 regular season with a 40-0 shutout victory over the Boynton Beach Tigers on Friday night. It was the first of four consecutive home games for Boynton Beach(0-1) to begin the season. The Panthers are idle and do not play next week.
Dwyer(1-0) scored on their second possession of the game. Running back Cedric Tucker went around the left end and scored from 14 yards away at 3:28 of the first quarter.
The Panthers commanded the second quarter as they scored three touchdowns and pulled out to a 26-point lead by halftime. Running back Jakairi Moses moved through the left side of the line and went into the end zone from six yards out just seven seconds into the second.
Panthers quarterback Todd Centeio threw a screen pass to the right and Moses raced down the right sideline for a 21-yard touchdown to make it 19-0 at 4:44. Linebacker Dequan Walker recovered a fumble and returned it 60 yards for a score with 1:29 left in the first half.
Dwyer added two more touchdowns during the second half. Tucker scored his second touchdown of the contest on a nine-yard run as he went around the right end and angled right to the end zone with 59 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
