Colton Sceviour scored a hat trick as the Florida Panthers dropped the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday. The Cats won the final game of a four-game road trip after they lost their three previous games.
It was the second-to-last visit ever for Florida(4-4-1) to Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings will be moving into a new venue for next season.
The Panthers dominated the first period as they got out to a 3-0 lead. Sceviour put in the first two goals for the Cats at 6:09 and 6:32. Jonathan Marchessault nailed his sixth goal of the season with 2:31 left in the frame.
In the second period, Dylan Larkin gave Detroit(6-4-0) some hope as he connected with a power-play goal at 2:36 to make it 3-1. Vincent Trocheck extended the Florida lead when he scored at 5:02 and Sceviour put in his third goal of the contest while his team was shorthanded with 3:35 remaining in the second.
