It was the same story as Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM led all sports format radio stations in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market for the sixth consecutive month. The last time they were on top for this long was during 2008-2009 when their lineup included Neil Rogers, Jim Mandich, Joe Rose and Damon Amendolara.
WQAM margin of victory did shrink in this period as they slightly dropped from a 1.4 to a 1.2 in the month of January. The Miami Dolphins finished a long winning streak and appeared in the playoffs for the first time in eight years. The Florida Panthers had not won three straight games at the midway point of the regular season.
790 The Ticket WAXY-AM finally moved out of their holding pattern of a 0.7 in the previous four periods and finished with a 0.9 in January. The Miami Heat began their 13-game winning streak with their climb from near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. The Ticket had the absence of afternoon host Ethan J. Skolnick from the show and continued with Chris Perkins and other guest co-hosts in that slot.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM continued to stay at a 0.2 for the fourth straight month. Things have been consistent at that station with no Miami Marlins baseball broadcasts along with weekday shows of Andy Slater and Jeff DeForest.
