Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria will sell the baseball club to a group of investors that includes former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and former Florida governor Jeb Bush. The deal must be approved by Major League Baseball owners.
Loria has owned the Marlins since 2002. They won their second World Series title in franchise history back in 2003. In an unusual procedure, Loria once owned the Montreal Expos and sold the team to Major League Baseball. John Henry shifted from ownership of the Marlins and moved on to own the Boston Red Sox while Loria became the owner of the Florida Marlins.
