The Miami Marlins won their home opener over the Atlanta Braves 8-4 at Marlins Park on Tuesday night. It was the 25th home opener for the franchise and the sixth held at Marlins Park. The facility will host the annual All-Star Game in July.
Miami(4-3), who won four of their last five games, began with a hot start as they scored three runs during the first inning. Christian Yelich knocked in Dee Gordon with a base hit into left field. J.T. Realmuto was able to score on a sacrifice fly to left by Justin Boar. Yelich made it a three run margin when he crossed the plate on a Marcell Ozuna sacrifice fly to right
The Marlins increased their lead to 6-o in the bottom of the third. Ozuna blasted a three-run homer which scored Yelich and Bour.
Atlanta(1-6) scored in the fourth inning as Nick Markakis hit a solo home run to right field. The Braves added two more runs in the top of the fifth.
Ozuna connected for his second home run of the game in the bottom of the fifth on a 1-0 pitch. Yelich scored in front of him on the play to make it 8-3.
