The Miami Marlins blew out the Los Angeles Angels 9-2 at Marlins Park on Sunday. The Fish have won three of their last five games. It was the first series win for the Marlins since April 23.
Miami(18-30) took their first lead in the opening frame. Giancarlo Stanton homered to center field for his 13th home run of the season.
Los Angeles(26-27) put up a couple of run to go up 2-1 in the fourth inning. Martin Maldonado hit a two-run homer to left field with Cole Calhoun scoring in front of him.
The Marlins scored three runs in the fifth inning and moved ahead 4-2. Ichiro Suzuki singled into right field to score Derek Dietrich. J.T. Riddle followed and knocked in Ichiro with a two-run home run to right.
After adding two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Dee Gordon scored on a Christian Yelich bases loaded walk in the eighth. Marcell Ozuna later got a base hit into right which drove in Riddle and Stanton to make it 9-2.
