The Miami Marlins returned to the road following a brief set of games at home and shut out the Atlanta Braves 5-0 on Friday night. It was the first visit ever to SunTrust Park by the Marlins, who have won 13 of their last 18 games. Atlanta(29-37) was held to four hits in the contest.
Miami(30-35) jumped on the Braves in the first inning. Christian Yelich knocked in Dee Gordon with a double into right-center field.
The Fish made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning when Justin Boar retuned to the lineup and blasted a solo home run into center field on a 1-0 pitch. They added another run in the sixth off an infield double play.
The Marlins, who moved to second place in the National League East with the victory, got insurance runs during the top of the ninth. Yelich drove in J.T. Riddle and Gordon with a base hit into left field.
