Giancarlo Stanton hit his Major League Baseball leading 40th home run of the season as the Miami Marlins beat the Colorado Rockies 6-3 at Marlins Park on Friday night. The Fish returned home following a seven-game road trip.
Colorado(65-50) ripped out to a 2-0 lead during the top of the third. Nolan Arenado smashed a two-run homer to right field on a 2-1 pitch. Charlie Blackmon scored in front of him on the play.
After the Marlins got a run on a double play in the fifth, the Rockies had a two-run gap again in the top of the sixth when Gerardo Parra hit a solo home run to right on a 2-2 count.
Miami(54-60) was able to tie the contest 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stanton pounded a solo home to left field on a 1-1 pitch. J.T. Realmuto later hit a sacrifice fly to center and Christian Yelich crossed the plate.
The Fish broke the tie with three runs in the eighth inning. Dietrich drove in Yelich on a base hit into center field. Tomas Telis followed with a triple to right-center field which scored Marcell Ozuna and Dietrich.
