The Miami Marlins came back from a six-run deficit as they won 7-6 over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Fish did the same thing to the Nats in Miami during in game back in June.
Washington(63-42) manufactured all their six runs in the second inning. Max Scherzer smacked a three-run homer on a 0-2 pitch to left field for a 4-0 lead. Nationals newcomer Howie Kendrick later cracked a two-run home run to center on a 2-2 count and they had a six-run cushion.
Miami(50-55) began to cut into lead in the third inning. Miguel Rojas scored on a ground out to second by Dee Gordon.
The Fish compiled two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Marcell Ozuna crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly to center by Tomas Taelis. One batter later, Rojas singled into center field which brought home J.T. Realmuto.
In the fifth inning, the Marlins added four more runs and took the lead. Ozuna lifted a three-run homer to left field on a 2-2 pitch to tie the contest 6-6. Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton scored in front of him on the play. Two batters later, Derek Dietrich knocked in Realmuto with a triple to right-center field for the go-ahead tally.
