The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs make a long ride to Miami and face the Jackson Generals in a District 16-5A game at North Miami Stadium on Tuesday night. The contest was rescheduled several weeks ago due to Hurricane Irma.
Cardinal Gibbons(4-0, 1-0) have outscored their four opponents 144-6 this season. They visited Miami in the season opener and beat the defending FHSAA Class 8A state champion Southridge 27-6. The Chiefs followed that with shutout victories over American Heritage-Delray 44-0, Douglas 49-0 and Coconut Creek 24-0.
They have quarterback Nik Scalzo to lead the way on offense. The Chiefs have a loaded backfield with running backs Vincent Davis, Jordan Riggins and Tajae Davis. Scalzo looks to connect passes with wide receivers Carlos Sandy, Brandon Lee, Lavontae Decius and Dimon Stewart.
Jackson(3-1, 0-1) began the season with shutout wins over Mourning along with Hialeah-Miami Lakes and have outscored their four opponents this season 132-22. They gained revenge from a high-scoring game last year and defeated Hallandale 29-8 on Wednesday.
The Generals have Terrence Craig Jr. at quarterback as he looks to find wide receivers David Essix, Antwan Brinson, Anthony Lloyd and Davon Washington down the field. Running backs David Solomon and Isaiah Jean-Baptiste will get their share of carries from the backfield.
