The FHSAA released the updated playoff point standings following Week 7 action. The previous week was the first ever inaugural list in Florida high school football history.
Region 3 of Class 8A is compiled of schools in Broward County and Palm Beach County. Palm Beach Gardens fell from the top eight playoff rankings and Monarch(35.6) entered at fourth. Seminole Ridge(40), Miramar(39.8) and Atlantic(38.2) stayed in their first three positions. Deerfield Beach(39.4) dropped from fourth to fifth while Palm Beach Central(38) sailed down from fifth to eighth. #6 Western(39) and #7 Plantation(38.17) switched seeds.
A rundown of Dade County schools in Region 4 rankings has Columbus(42.5), Southridge(38.8), North Miami(36.4), Braddock(35.6), South Dade(43.8), Miami Palmetto(37.8), Homestead(37.6) and Miami(37.33).
Seven of eight teams in Class 7A stayed as the top eight seeds and Miami Springs dropped out. St. Thomas Aquinas(42.4) and Doral Academy(41.83) maintained the top two spots. Forest Hill(39.2) and Nova(38.2) exchanged positions at third and fourth while Dwyer(37.5) placed in fifth again. The last three playoff seeds consist of Mater Academy(35.8), West Broward(35.25) and Miami Sunset(35.17).
Four Class 6A schools from District 16 remain in playoff positions in Region 4. Miami Northwestern(41.4) stays as the first seed while Miami Central(40.71) is in the fifth post. Carol City(38.2) and Norland(36.33) climbed up one spot each ranked sixth and seventh. Dillard(33.67) is the lone school from District 15 at fourth.
Class 5A in Region 4 saw no changes in schools or seedings. District 16 has three teams that includes #1 Cardinal Gibbons(44.8), #5 American Heritage(44.6) and #7 Coconut Creek(39). District 15 leader Suncoast(37.67) stayed in the fourth spot.
There was a major change in Region 4 of Class 1A. Pahokee vaulted from fourth place to first place in the region following a home victory over Class 8A school Palm Beach Gardens and went from 36.3 to 39.25 points. Champagnat remained the top seed of Class 2A in Region 4 as they rose from to 40.8 to 41.17 points.
Things remained the same in Region 4 of Class 3A as there was no changes in the top four seeds. They consist in ranked order Chaminade-Madonna(38.4), Everglades Prep(36.2), St. Andrew's(35) and American Heritage(34.17).
Class 3A had two Palm Beach County schools in the Region 2 rankings. Oxbridge Academy(40.4) was in second position and Kings Academy(39) was in third position.
The most movement among small schools in South Florida was in Class 4A in Region 4. University School(44) moved up from second to first while Key West(41.5) dropped to second. Monsignor Pace(38.5) along with North Broward Prep(37.5) jumped into top four qualifying positions. Leaving the top four spots were Gulliver Prep(37) and Booker T. Washington(36.5).
