The Park Vista Cobras defeated the Boca Raton Bobcats 29-7 in a District 10-7A at GL Homes Stadium on Friday night. The Cobras have beaten the Bobcats for the sixth time in the last seven meetings. Both schools are still trying to catch up to district leader Atlantic.
Park Vista(4-2, 3-1) was able to go up 7-0 in the first quarter at the 7:27 mark. Quarterback John Smith connected a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Atorian Perry in the front of the end zone.
The combination worked again at 10:19 of the second quarter. Smith fired the ball down the right side and Perry walked into the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown to make it 13-0.
The Boca Raton(3-3, 2-1) defense recovered a fumble on a bad snap at the Cobras 25-yard line. Running back Predner Elmon capped the drive with a 12-yard touchdown run around the right end with 3:00 left in the first half.
In the third quarter, Park Vista stretched their margin to 20-7 at the 6:45 mark. Backup quarterback Tyler Thomas threw a 63-yard touchdown pass in which Smith made a double spin move down the field to avoid defenders.
The Cobras got a safety when Perry tackled punter Matt Schulster in the end zone following a high bad snap with 52 seconds to go in the third. Smith scored again 12 seconds later on the ensuing kickoff as he returned it 62 yards.
