The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs visit the Rockledge Raiders in a Class 5A regional semifinal on Friday night. The winner of this contest will take on the winner between American Heritage and Bishop Moore next week.
Cardinal Gibbons(10-1) almost had an undefeated regular season, however they lost to American Heritage by four points in Week 8. The Chiefs, who have compiled four shutouts this year, went to Orlando and topped Jones 43-30 last week in a regional quarterfinal. They have outscored their opponents 400-83 this season and scored 36 points for per game.
Quarterback Nik Scalzo will attempt to bring the Chiefs down the field on offense. He has a bunch of options to connect passes with at wide receiver with Carlos Sandy, Brandon Lee, Levontae Decius and Dimon Stewart. They have several choices to rush the ball from the backfield that consists of running backs Vincent Davis, Jordan Riggins and Tajae Davis.
Rockledge(7-3) started the season off bad as they lost three of their first four games. The Raiders responded and have won their last six games. They barely slipped by their district foe Palm Bay 27-21 in overtime during a regional quarterfinal last week. In their six-game winning streak, they have outscored opponents 230-65. Their offense will rely on running back Laquentin Hastle and wide receiver Antoine Green.
